Gerard Butler was playing a random Seaman in a James Bond movie
and now he’s going to be calling the shots at his own production
company. Butler and his
manager, Alan Siegel, have formed Evil Twins with the intention
of developing movies for Butler and others.
Variety notes that the first project is a thriller called
Law Abiding Citizen.
The Thomas Crown Affair and
The Recruit writer,
Kurt Wimmer, wrote the screenplay for Law Abiding Citizen.
Butler will play an assistant District Attorney who is involved
in a vigilante plot created by someone screwed over by the legal
system. Other Evil Twins movies in development are Teacher
Man, based on the book by Frank McCourt, and Hanging Tale,
written by Groundhog Day co-writer Danny Rubin.
Siegel realizes why this production company is being brought
into existence. “We're thrilled at
the opportunity that Gerry's career
has given us to make our own films,” he noted. It’s
possible that Butler will develop many wonderful films that will
entertain audiences for years on end. Hey, we can hope.
